This week we will discuss prayer. Prayer is an important part of leading a moral life. Prayer is the primary way that Catholics deepen their knowledge of God. We pray for the living and the dead and forgive those who have hurt us.

Monday, February 6 - Memorize the answer to the following prayer and be able to write it down in class on Wednesday, February 8.
Identify some types of prayer.
Some types of prayer are: blessing and adoration, contrition, petition, intercession, thanksgiving, and praise.
There is public prayer and private prayer.
Wednesday, February 8 - Memorize the answer to the following question and be able to write it down in class on Friday, February 10.
What is the difference between meditative prayer and contemplative prayer?
Meditative prayer is a way to think about the mysteries of our salvation in Christ. We might meditate on a mystery of the rosary or on a passage from the Bible.
Contemplative prayer is being with God and enjoying His presence, just as we enjoy being with our best friend.

What are the Mysteries of the Rosary?
The Mysteries of the Rosary are meditations on different events in the lives of Christ and His Blessed Mother. The rosary is a special prayer that helps us to imitate the lives of Jesus and Mary. The rosary helps us to see Jesus through Mary's eyes.
