Our Lady of Lourdes library is a welcoming place for the entire student body. A warm, cheerful space greets each student as they walk through the library doors. Whether it be our youngest students who have come to hear flannel board stories, our lower grade students ready to choose books by their favorite author, or our middle school students eager to delve into a new research project, the space meets all of their needs. There is an emphasis throughout the year to teach basic library skills, to promote digital literacy and citizenship, and to equip students with the skills to conduct research efficiently, responsibly and with genuine curiosity. While all this work is going on, students are encouraged to read, read, read! With close to 10,000 titles and a large selection of magazines, there is plenty of reading material available for students to choose from. Finally, a collaborative partnership between the school librarian and teachers is an important part of our school's library media program. The librarian and teachers communicate throughout the year regarding topics being covered in the classroom as well as upcoming projects that will require research. This successful collaboration is of critical importance as we continue to emphasize successful student learning at Our Lady of Lourdes School. |
