Happy Friday OLOL,
It's here... OLOL's Annual Spelling Bee & Talent Show! I am writing my weekly email with anticipation and excitement for this great event that gets underway today at 12:30 pm. The students will be spelling and performing in the cafeteria and the event will be live broadcast via Zoom. We had a successful dress rehearsal on Wednesday (complete with a technology check to make sure we had everything working correctly), and we are ready and looking forward to this much loved event taking place in a slightly different way in order to allow everyone to watch.
See the link to the Zoom information and Spelling Bee & Talent Show Program below.
We will also record the Zoom for anyone who is not available today during the 12:30-2:30 airing time and it will be posted later today on the One MOORE thing Daily Edition page of our website.
This week we had an outstanding showing of academic excellence as our students in grades 2-8 took the standardized tests in reading and math. We are incredibly proud of our students who showed tremendous growth this year and attained high scores across all grades. We are also incredibly thankful to our wonderful teachers and all their efforts to ensure that our students have been learning and growing this entire year, and in particular how they planned and worked to prepare the students for the standardized tests.
We are getting very close to the end of the year and next week we start to say goodbye to our 8th grade as they enjoy their last few days at OLOL. Our 8th graders have done an exceptional job as school leaders this year. They have withstood the regular stresses of being an 8th grader, like preparing for high school, studying hard, and being an example to they younger students, all while under the restrictions and guidelines of the COVID pandemic. This was indeed a year like no other, and our 8th grade was up to every challenge and they tackled them all with grace and strength of character. I know you will all agree with me that we are blessed at Our Lady of Lourdes to have such wonderful young ladies and gentlemen to represent our school. Let us all keep the 8th grade students in our prayers this week. We pray that they may have an enjoyable week and a wonderful graduation. We pray that they will always know how much God loves them and that OLOL will always be here to great them with open arms when they return.
Ms. Amy Moore is the Principal of Our Lady of Lourdes School.
