I hope that you are all enjoying the Labor Day weekend! I have a few reminders about deadlines and information about our first day of school, Tuesday, September 3!
The teachers and staff have been hard at work getting everything ready. It was a crazy week trying to get everything completed on time. As is the case with most jobs that you plan and work so hard for, things are running a small bit behind with the Discovery Center. You will be able to see our progress, but the room is not completely finished. We will spend the next 2 weeks finalizing and preparing the room for use. The teachers enjoyed learning about some of the new Discovery Center tools and sharing what they learned with their colleagues. We have an outstanding group of dedicated and hardworking teachers who are so excited about all the new learning that will take place in our Discovery Center. I will share more information at Back to School Night and we will plan a ribbon cutting event for late September. This week the faculty and I had time to meet and discuss plans for the year, pray together and ask for God's grace and guidance, and to thank God for the blessing that is this job that we do everyday. We can't wait to get back to work and to welcome everyone "Home" to OLOL! We are starting our year with an orientation hour: First Day of School is Tuesday, September 3. Doors will be open at 7:30am. School starts at 8am with our "Welcome Home Orientation Hour" from 8-9am. Visit the classroom, meet your child's teacher, visit with other parents, and enjoy coffee and refreshments in the library media center! We will have opening of day prayers at 9am. Students will be dismissed at 12:10 and there is after school care available. Please register for ASC: https://ololasc.net/ HOT LUNCH ORDERING IS ALMOST CLOSED: If you want to order hot lunch for "First Day" Chick-fil-A or "Last Day" Ledo Pizza, you have a few hours. All lunch ordering will be closed tomorrow (Sun., 9/1). Order now If you ordered uniform pieces from OLOL earlier than this past week, we will have completed orders ready for pick up on Tuesday. Mrs. Kiyonaga will email you when other orders are ready for pick up and/or we will send items home with students once school is underway. If you have not done so, please take a minute to complete the family survey that was sent out for the 2nd time on 8/25/19. Under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, all schools are required to provide poverty and residency information to determine eligibility for federal education services. Thank you to the 85 families who have completed this task. We still need about 50 families to respond. This is due to us by Sept. 4 so that we can compile and submit the information as required. Check out the front page for information about our Back to School Picnic on Friday, Sept. 6! Enjoy the beautiful weekend! All of us at OLOL are looking forward to seeing you back at school on Tuesday! Best, Ms. Moore Comments are closed.
