Enrichment

- Schoolwide enrichment programs take place during the school year. Students in the primary grades engage in project based learning based on a chosen theme.
- Teachers provide enrichment throughout the school day to students who have mastered grade level objectives, and create cross-curricular lessons and projects to reinforce student learning.
This year we will be offering math enrichment with Mr. Dwyer once a week for students in grades 4 and up.
Band

- Band is offered to all students in grades four through eight. Students take lessons once a week, and the Advanced Band rehearses once a week after school. Band lessons take place during the school day, last for 40 minutes, and students are pulled from academic classes for band on a rotating basis.

Newspaper Club
The Newspaper Club is open to students in grades 6,7 & 8. The newspaper is published several times a year, and distributed to school families, members of the Parish, and prospective families who attend Open House. The OLOL School Newspaper has received numerous accolades.
Student Government
In the Fall of the school year, eighth grade students have an opportunity to run for Student Government. They campaign and present their platforms in speeches to students in grades 4-8. The four officers of the Student Government are responsible for organizing fundraisers, tag days, spirit week and other activities throughout the school year.
Scouting
Cub Scout Pack 8 is one of the oldest Packs in the country. They meet weekly at Our Lady of Lourdes. Visit their website.
Resource
- Students can be referred for Resource services by a parent or a teacher. Three Resource teachers provide in-class and pull-out support for students who need interventions, accommodations or modifications to the curriculum.
- Resource teachers are present in all primary grade classrooms during reading instruction, and when needed at other times during the school day.
The SAT Procedure
Teachers, administrators or parents can request an SAT (Student Assistance Team) meeting for a child who is struggling to meet grade-level expectations for behavior or academics.
The process is as follows:

- Student is recommended to the Resource Director for SAT
- Resource Director seeks input from all teachers who teach the child.
- The Resource Director or a designated resource teacher observes the student in the classroom.
- SAT meets within four weeks of recommendation.
- Recommendations are made to teachers who teach the child and to the parents if appropriate.
- Date for follow-up meeting is set (usually 6 weeks).
