Knowing that our Principal Search Committee did such an outstanding job in choosing the next leader of our school, I am sure that you join me in a huge sigh of relief. Lourdes is much more than a school to many of us, and we had good reason to be anxious about who might step in to continue the work, uphold the traditions, and foster the culture of our school community. Ms. Moore has spent nineteen years at Lourdes. She has outlasted (survived?) a variety of principals. She understands what Lourdes is all about. She and Mr. Long have worked together for all nineteen of those years, and they share the same vision for the future of Lourdes. Ms. Moore has been a steady support to me during my time here, and I trust her to remain steady in a storm.
For those of you who know me even a little you are aware that I am not fond of giving up control. I will try my best to do that graciously over the next couple of months, with the reassurance that Ms. Moore, Mr. Long and Monsignor Filardi will be working together to continue the work we have done and to improve on the progress we have made will make it easier for me to loosen my iron grip.
We remind the children all the time to “finish strong”. Now that this decision has been made, I will focus my energies on just that - finishing strong. There are, after all, seven weeks of school left, and there is lots to do!
"That's what you learn in sports. Keep going no matter what the score. Play all the way- till it's finished."
All Lourdes volunteers are invited to join us on May 23 at 8:30 am in the school cafeteria for the
Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast. We will celebrate the 2017-18 school year and all the amazing volunteer efforts which made it such a joy-filled and successful one.
Please RSVP to Michela Donohue at firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope to see you there!
