It is the end of another school year... and that sounds so normal doesn’t it. Well, we did make it to the end of an amazing year at Our Lady of Lourdes. The children worked hard, learned many new skills and strengthened their faith, and interacted with teachers and friends. We found a way to make an extraordinarily difficult year into a very successful year, much like many that have come before. The fact that we were able to do this during a pandemic is due to the support of our families, the strength and dedication of our teachers, and the resilience of our students. Every one of us should be very proud of what we have accomplished this year and we should remember to thank God for being with us every step of the way, guiding us, giving us strength and hope.
This summer I pray that each of the outstanding students and their families, as well as the exceptional teachers and staff, will spend many days enjoying family and friends, praying and going to Mass, and most of all remembering to be grateful for the many blessings that God fills our lives with every day. We are coming out of difficult times, and there may be difficult times to come, but we can handle all things when we put our faith in God and we use our talents and gifts to support and encourage one another.
Some things to reflect on as we close this year. There have been so many positive moments at OLOL and so many things that have made this year successful. This year we:
As we look to next year:
May God go with you this summer!
Yours in Christ
We did it! We are a week away from the end of our 2020-2021 school year and last night we said farewell (for now) to our 8th grade class. We are so proud of all our OLOL students, but our 8th graders are always such an important part of what makes each year special. This year was particularly difficult in so many ways and our 8th graders really soared above and beyond our expectations. We thank them for their leadership, dedication to excellence, kindness, and friendship. We wish them the best of luck as they move into the next stage of their lives, and we can't wait to welcome them back as OLOL alum! Our Lady of Lourdes is a family and our students always come home to visit. We know we will be seeing them in all their high school glory soon. May God go with you 8th grade!
Now we look toward the next week and the amazing 7th grade students who have already jumped into the leadership roles of our school and are showing us that they are ready for the responsibilities, challenges, and rewards of being the 8th grade and the next graduating class at OLOL. We have a fantastic school year ahead of us... but first SUMMER VACATION!
This year we are especially grateful to all the men and women who work at OLOL and all that they have done to care for, instruct, and safe guard all our students. We really have had an outstanding year and it is due to the positive attitude, dedication, and strength of each of the faculty and staff at OLOL. This will be the most well deserved summer break in the history of summer breaks!
As I mentioned a while back, we are very excited about entering the 80th anniversary year of Our Lady of Lourdes. Two of the exciting new changes are our new uniform and new logo. I have included some details below. Next week we will have a few samples on the front steps during arrival (not in all the correct colors) if you want to stop by to take a sneak peek. This was a year primarily without a formal uniform and we are excited about our new colors and new school logo (which has been showing up here and there- kind of a "Where's Waldo" in our school communications over the last months). There will be more information to come about specific uniform pieces, items that will carry over and those that will not, and how to order your new uniforms through School Uniforms by Tommy Hilfiger. (the site will be open soon but is currently getting the finishing touches applied) The PE and preschool uniform items (except the navy polo dress which will be sold on School Uniforms) will be sold through OLOL and available for pick at school as they were this year. Images for final preschool and PE uniforms are not available to post yet. PE /Preschool shorts and sweatpants will remain the same. PE/ Preschool sweatshirts and t-shirts will change. I will update this page with new images as soon as they are available (please check back soon).
