The 7th & 8th grade students are gone for Outdoor Ed and the building is very quiet. It was wonderful to see so many excited students load their bags and board the bus as they headed off to the great outdoors! I've been in contact with Mr. Long and things are going well on this glorious fall day. I've put a few of the great pictures on the home page of our website. A huge thanks goes to Mr. Long for planning and supervising this amazing learning opportunity.
Important Reminders & Updates:
We had a wonderful first full week back at school. It was filled with testing, student government elections, Back to School Night, and more! We are off to a great start this year. The students are happy to be back, the teachers have prepared wonderful learning experiences, and we look forward to the days ahead. We had a wonderful turnout for Back to School Night and our families and students are making a great effort to be to school on time each day. I thank you for all the support as we begin this year together. Our Discovery Center is getting used even though we are still waiting on a few items so that we can "officially" celebrate. This week I saw our 8th graders planning and building circuit pieces using LittleBits to make creations move. As Mrs. Stallsmith said, the kids are "like fish to water" when using these new technology devices.
I hope to see many of you this Sunday at Mass, until then have a wonderful weekend.
Reminders & updates:
I was just talking to a parent and we were wondering if this year would fly by as fast as the last one seemed to for both of us. As I sat down at my desk to write this note to you about all the reminders, events, and general information I want to share with you I thought about things coming up, to do lists that need to be completed, classrooms to visit, lessons to review... and then I thought about the saying "time is what you make it". Time is just time. It doesn't creep by or fly by, it is constant. We perceive the time on an emotional level once the time has gone by or when we are waiting for something or enduring something we feel is unpleasant. I pray that this year we all take the time God has given us each day to find something nice to say to someone else, give an extra hug to a loved one, study for just 10 more minutes than we feel like, say thank you and show appreciation to others, and spend time talking and listening to God.
“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”
